French Toast Flavored with Tipu’s Chai
Suggested by Felipe Campos
What better Sunday breakfast is there than French Toast? Even better, add a little Tipu’s Chai Now Black to spice up your life. The best French Toast always starts with several day old bread. A dense Italian or ciabatta is a great start but use your own favorite peasant variety. For you gluten free folks, just choose your favorite gluten free bread but make sure it is cut fairly thickly and dried out.
Basic recipe for two people:
2 fresh eggs
1/3 cup milk or soymilk
4 slices of bread
1 teaspoon Tipu’s Chai Now Black (formerly known as Microground Chai)
½ teaspoon vanilla (optional)
Beat eggs, milk and Tipu’s Chai together. Pour into a shallow bowl large enough for the bread slices to lay flat in.
Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, allowing it to soak but not get mushy or dissolve.
Melt a little butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the bread until it is just a little crispy on both sides.
Serve hot with butter, maple syrup (or agave) and fruit if you like. And of course, serve it with a cup of Tipu’s Chai!
