In 2008, our CHAI-tini recipe won a first place award in the Freestyle Mar-TEA-ni category at the World Tea Expo using our liquid concentrate.  Since then, we have improved and perfected the recipe and adapted it to use one or the other of our instant Tipu’s Chai Now™ products.  Ring in the New Year with a creamy, delicious CHAI-tini!

Chai Spiced Apple “Samosas”

OK, so these aren’t “traditional” samosas.  But we used to make these little fellas or something like them at the restaurant for our New Year’s Eve dinner and they were a great hit.  They are a delicious dessert or a great addition to New Year’s Day breakfast.  And they can be made ahead of time and baked up fresh when you are ready to serve them.

Being gluten intolerant, my dessert of choice is usually some kind of fruit crumble (also known by names such as cobbler or brown betty, depending on where you come from).  In the fall, I make apple crumbles, in the spring I make rhubarb crumbles.  For guests this weekend in August, I branched out and used the seasonal fruits that have been flowing into my house lately and it was so good I wanted to share the recipe with you.

A little of the history of Chai

The word chai (or cha) simply means tea in many European and Asian languages.  For many English speakers, however “chai” refers to what is really masala chai, meaning “spicy tea” or “tea with spices”.
